Industrial Hygiene/Chemical Exposure Monitoring is classically defined as "the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of workplace hazards". Over exposure to hazardous substances may cause a serious health effect to the employee. It is important to study and evaluate the possibility exposure levels to the employee so that the right and proper prevention management control may be implemented before any of the occupational disease have been suffering.


An occupational hazard in workplace environment is an important issue in Malaysia. It is important to establish the possible chemicals hazards the worker may be exposed to, the nature of the job, the hours of work and any abnormal circumstances.


Under the regulation of Malaysia Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standard of Exposure Of Chemicals Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2000, any employer or an occupier who has an industrial process within his place of work which users or handles chemicals in which potential hazardous to the health of their employee during work, is required to carry out industrial chemical exposure monitoring in complying with the above Ragulations.
